Cryotherapy

Cryotherapy

Cryotherapy (freezing) uses liquid nitrogen to destroy skin lesions. It is uncomfortable, but the pain usually wears off within a few minutes. The treated area will become red and a little tender and possibly swollen for the first few days after treatment. Generally a scab develops which can take up to 14 days to fall off.

Cryotherapy is very effective for the treatment of seborrhoeic keratoses, areas of sun damage (solar keratoses, lentigos and Bowen’s disease), skin tags, warts and verrucae.

Cryotherapy usually gives an excellent cosmetic result.
Repeated treatments may be needed for some warts and verrucae.
